It’s clear that life is busier for me these days considering I haven’t posted on the blog since last month. I feel like school started and we hit the ground running and have been going non-stop since then. It’s not just that the work weeks have been busy, stressful, and draining. They’ve also been late nights with Kyle and I not even seeing each until around 7pm. Eating such late dinners is tough when you’re trying to get ready for bed so you can wake up the next morning at 5am to start the work day all over again!
The nice thing (on one hand) is that we’ve had fun events to look forward to each weekend. We went up to Guemes for two weekends, went to the Puyallup Fair another weekend, and just this past weekend went to dinner with some my co-workers from school and then went to the Inglemoor football game on Friday night, and did a volunteer project with Kyle’s company on Saturday.
So, it’s been great to feel involved and busy, but on the other hand, it’s also been a little hard to not be around to catch our breath at home and do those little projects that you get behind on quite quickly. Today we had some time after church to clean a few things out of the garage. I was supposed to clean the bathtub and do the ironing, but I think I’ll wait til one of the rainy days this week to do that. 🙂
My big goal was to update the blog and show you some of the photos from our trip up to Guemes last weekend. We hosted some of my friends from school and their families. Here’s some photos of our weekend away:
1. Friday was Jan’s birthday. Elisabeth brought a Carrot Cake since that is one of Jan’s favorites. Turns out Jim had made Jan a Spice Cake for her birthday, and Jan also made a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie, so we were definitely set on desserts for the weekend!
2.We had SUCH beautiful weather the entire weekend. Take a look at Ed, Jan, and Makayla trying to squint into to sunshine to get their photo taken!
3. Saturday morning we spent hours (yes hours) beachcombing. It was so fun to draw circles in the rocks to help everyone spot the shiny rocks. Here’s a couple photos of our morning down by the shore:
4. Back at the cabin, the adults spent a lot of time listening to the (AMAZING) Husky game on the radio. Makayla was happy to just play. 🙂
5. It was a relaxing weekend filled with game-playing, walks, good conversation and LOTS of yummy snacks and meals. We all went to the store for dinner on Saturday night and managed to convince our server to take a photo of us.
So, in summary, we’ve worked hard and we’ve had a lot of weekends to play hard this past month. I guess that’s a tell-tale sign that life is just moving right along. Hopefully it doesn’t take another month before you see the next post from us!
